One of our single moms has been working very hard to create a stable life for her and her three children. They came to us out of a difficult situation and have been able to overcome some anxiety to go after her high-school equivalency diploma. She has already passed two of the four parts of her testing to gain her GED. She also works at a local discount grocer and is now being trained to become a manager for this national chain.
Each month on each campus we have community meetings where residents must attend for training or informational programs. The problem is that these meetings are typically in the evening and we don’t have child care. We can really use volunteers to watch the children while their parent(s) attend the events. Meetings last about two hours and occur once or twice a month. If you are interested give the main office a call at (386) 239-0861 or submit the Volunteer Inquiry Form (check Babysitting Team).
We have several parents who are struggling with maintaining consistent employment. We are teaching them how to act on their jobs and how to speak to their supervisors. We ask that you pray that the Lord will open their hearts and minds and they would gain a teachable spirit. Often times one of the issues that lead to homelessness is broken thinking and we work hard to change the way our families interact with others.
Our families have been blessed with bicycles for the children and over 100 pillows for our families. So we need children’s safety helmets to protect them while they ride around the campuses. And, the pillows were donated by The Shores Resort & Spa and are king-sized and did not come with pillow cases. So any help with these two needs would be greatly appreciated! Please call the main office at (386) 239-0861 or send us an email.
