A Hand Up... Not A Handout

Childhood only comes once, and no child should spend any of it caught up in family homelessness. Family Renew Community brings together religious congregations, businesses, civic and charitable organizations and individuals committed to solving homelessness in Volusia County. The program provides housing and helps homeless parents on a path toward supporting their families in places of their own.

A Hand Up

Success Stories

Family Renew Community served 65 families, including 128 children, in 2017. One was a couple with six children, from a toddler to a 12-year-old, who were thrust into homelessness by Hurricane Irma.
- Our 32 apartments in Holly Hill, Daytona Beach and DeLand are always full.
Thanks to Family Renew Community supporters like you, the journey out of homelessness ended successfully in 2017 for 39 Volusia County families, including 78 children.
- Thanks for all you do!
Of the 42 families who moved out of their apartments at Family Renew Community's residential campuses last year, 81 percent moved into permanent housing. One single mom bought a house for herself and her three kids!
- These are not just numbers, they are lives changed by your generosity.
Hundreds more homeless families are out there in Volusia County, ready for a hand up, not a handout. More than 1,900 students in the public schools experienced homelessness last school year. And there's no way to count the homeless families whose children are not yet old enough for school.
- Please help more families lift themselves out of homelessness in 2018!

She knows it works

Anita Dudley helps homeless families with children as a program manager for Family Renew Community. But at one time, Anita and her six children - from a newborn to a teenager - had no place to stay and needed a hand. This brings a unique perspective to her case management with clients at our Holly Hill Residential Campus. She knows our program works, because it worked for her. See Anita tell her story in our new video.
