A Hand Up... Not A Handout

Childhood only comes once, and no child should spend any of it caught up in family homelessness. Family Renew Community brings together religious congregations, businesses, civic and charitable organizations and individuals committed to solving homelessness in Volusia County. The program provides housing and helps homeless parents on a path toward supporting their families in places of their own.

Family Renew Community served 66 families, including 122 children, in 2019.

Thanks to Family Renew Community supporters like you, the journey out of homelessness ended successfully in 2019 for 28 Volusia County families, including 49 children.

Of the 37 families who moved out of their apartments at Family Renew Community's residential campuses last year, 76 percent moved into permanent housing.

Bouncing from one friend’s or relative’s couch to another was not the life “Anna” wanted for herself, much less for the toddler and newborn experiencing homelessness with her.

You gotta have faith!

Our faith-based trustee congregations, including varied Christian denominations, Jewish and Unitarian Universalist traditions, support our work financially, with volunteer hours and in-kind contributions and in prayer on a regular basis. The public health crisis has pushed many to go beyond their routine generosity.
