A Hand Up... Not A Handout

Childhood only comes once, and no child should spend any of it caught up in family homelessness. Family Renew Community brings together religious congregations, businesses, civic and charitable organizations and individuals committed to solving homelessness in Volusia County. The program provides housing and helps homeless parents on a path toward supporting their families in places of their own.

Success Stories

Family Renew Community served 65 families, including 128 children, in 2017. One was a couple with six children, from a toddler to a 12-year-old, who were thrust into homelessness by Hurricane Irma.

Thanks to Family Renew Community supporters like you, the journey out of homelessness ended successfully in 2017 for 39 Volusia County families, including 78 children.
- Your help is the key!
Of the 42 families who moved out of their apartments at Family Renew Community's residential campuses last year, 81 percent moved into permanent housing. One single mom bought a house for herself and her three kids!

A place to be a family

Clean and sober, Christina was ready to be a regular, everyday mom to her baby girl and 6-year-old boy, but they had no where to go. That changed when the first floor of Family Renew Community's flood-ravaged Daytona Beach campus reopened. She bravely shared her story with a newspaper reporter.

Life after Family Renew Community

We often find ourselves pondering the ongoing success of the families we’ve helped to overcome homelessness. Early indications from our new tracking system are that 96 percent remain stably housed.
