'Sleeping in a big-girl bed'

Sometimes we forget how the families we serve have so many barriers in front of them. Then I am reminded how while at Family Renew Community they overcome those barriers and can move towards a more productive thriving environment.Tony's column sig

I was reminded of the impact when one of our moms said how her almost 2-year-old daughter was now “sleeping in a big-girl bed.” She is celebrating something we all often take for granted.

And, how we had one 14-year-old daughter who was only in the sixth grade and after settling in at Family Renew was able to jump to the eighth grade and is prospering. It just goes to show you the impact we can have on not only the family as a whole but also the individuals and especially the children under our care.

We had one father who was hospitalized with COVID several months ago. Although he was in the ICU on a ventilator he has recovered and has returned to work. He was so impressed with the way he was treated; he sought and was hired by AdventHealth. He is thriving and has received a significant pay increase. In the interim, his wife and oldest son have gone back to college to pursue new careers. This is a classic example of how the Lord can turn all things to good who Love Him and are called according to His purpose.
