Family Renew Community has been helping homeless families with children in Volusia County since 1989, with a great success rate that’s getting even better. In 2018, 78 percent of families moved into permanent housing upon leaving their Family Renew Community apartments. Our housing programs are designed to equip families with resources and skills for long-term stability. Over the years, Family Renew Community has grown to include 32 apartments for homeless families with children in Holly Hill, Daytona Beach and DeLand. Last year, Family Renew Community added a component to intervene with at-risk families to prevent them from becoming homeless in the first place. We also now keep track of families in the months and years after they've overcome homelessness, and offer help when needed. Our latest research shows 96 percent remain stably housed and most continue to make gains in income.
