Smiles and umbrellas needed

With everything going on in the world we need to pour love on everyone we encounter. Because of the COVID-19 outbreak and the civil unrest we need to be reminded to go the extra mile to share love, understanding and compassion wherever we go. Scripture says “Your eyes are windows into your body.” I was reminded of this the other day when I encountered Pastor Jose from Tomoka United Methodist Church while picking up some food from their Family Renew Community Food Drive. He stepped out from an important meeting to say a quick hello. Although he was wearing a face mask, Love shined from his eyes. Although I could not see most of his face I knew he was smiling from ear to ear. And, that short simple interlude and the words of encouragement lifted my spirit for the rest of the day. I was reminded that it is possible to lift up someone who is struggling with what is going on. A simple gesture, a word of encouragement, or letting someone know that you care can make a world of difference to someone who is struggling. So let you light shine and make a difference in someone’s life.

How You Can Help

The outpouring of those who support Family Renew Community has been incredible. Churches holding food drives, couples bringing food and paper goods (special thanks to the Walshes), and individuals, couples and organizations writing checks has been heartwarming. We could not do what we do without the help of our supporters. Some of our Family Renew families remarked on how blessed they felt when they heard so many people were donating to help them out. They were touched by the fact that people who didn’t even know them were willing to help them out. That is truly showing the Love of God to those in need!

As the rainy season starts many of our families need umbrellas to keep them dry, especially those who have to use public transportation. So we are asking for umbrellas for our families on all three campuses. Please call any of our residential campuses or adminstrative office to arrange for a socially distanced drop off we will see that they get to right people.

Scripture Reminder
