Tasty tacos and hot dogs were on the menu for a socially distanced back-to-school celebration and supplies distribution at our DeLand Residential Campus for families experiencing homelessness!
Using funds from No Kid Hungry, Program Manager Linda Carson Adkinson and Program Assistant Dorothy Cooper offered a special back-to-school meal to the families.
Inclement weather moved the festivities indoors to the program office, so two families at a time came in to enjoy their tacos and hot dogs and receive backpacks full of school supplies, thanks to donors including Advent Health Daytona Beach and others. Each school-age child received school shoes donated by the Victoria Gardens Women’s Club. Earlier, elementary and middle school kids went shopping for free school clothes at JCPenney, thanks to the Daytona Beach Kiwanis.
