Hope for 2022

December 2021

Dear Friend of Families in Need,

A newly widowed homemaker loses her house through eviction shortly after adopting her troubled, grown daughter’s three young girls. An upscale-restaurant server bounces among friends’ couches for months with her baby after fleeing an abusive partner. A single father’s heart and housing stability are shattered by the unexpected death of his mother, with whom he and his preteen daughter shared a home he cannot sustain on his own.

All of these stories could have ended tragically. Because of generous people like you, they did not. These three families were among 28 families who overcame homelessness in 2021 with help from Family Renew Community.

The kindness of our supporters allowed us to offer these families housing and so much more. The grandmother got training to become a home health professional and connections to resources to help herself and the girls adjust to their new life; they moved into their own place in time to celebrate the youngest granddaughter’s 6th birthday. The mom, secure in her Family Renew apartment, was able to weather the storm of losing her waitressing job during the pandemic; she used the opportunity to resume studies for her dream career in meteorology. The dad and daughter received counseling and a chance to build savings and find an affordable apartment.

Our Hope for 2022 campaign aims to raise $45,000 by Dec. 31 to equip us to deliver a quick and permanent end to the experience of homelessness for more families. An anonymous donor matched the first $15,000 in individual donations of $1,000 or less. Please help us reach our new goal by midnight  Dec. 31. Would you be willing to make a special year-end gift of $50, $100 or the amount you can afford to restore hope to families whose circumstances have thrown them into homelessness?

Through the goodness of people like you, Family Renew Community has been helping local families escape desperate situations and restore their lives since 1989. On average now, families we serve in our 32 apartments in Holly Hill, Daytona Beach and DeLand beat homelessness in six to seven months. We have evidence that 94 percent of them remain stably housed in the months and years afterward.

Housing is only the beginning of what your donation will help bring to homeless families. With expert guidance, mothers and fathers will improve their employment, money management and parenting. They’ll pay down debts, repair credit and build savings. When they’re back out on their own, they’ll be prepared to prosper.

You can be the reason a family with children has hope for leaving homelessness behind forever in 2022. Please click “Donate” here or at the top this page, or text FAMILYRENEW to 44321. If you prefer to donate by mail, please send a check payable to Family Renew Community, P.O. Box 250123, Holly Hill, FL 32125-0123.

We realize many people continue to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in many ways. We hope you and yours are in good health and good spirits. Please consider donating if you can. Your prayers and advocacy for our mission with friends and relatives and in your social media circles also mean the world to us. Thank you for all you do to help homeless families with children.
