Family Renew Community presented a Big Bang Award to Dr. W.K. McGrane and Linda McGrane of Ormond Beach for sparking an effort to “expand the universe of support” for local programs to fight family homelessness.
The award recognizes the McGranes’ challenge gift of $10,000, which inspired others to match it by more than one-and-a-half times. The contributions will fund Family Renew Community’s 30th anniversary awareness campaign, Restoring Hope to Homeless Families Since 1989. Family Renew offers housing and help for homeless families with children in 32 apartments in Holly Hill, Daytona Beach and DeLand, and provides homelessness prevention assistance to families in Volusia and Flagler counties.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal is our media partner in the campaign. Other major sponsors include John and Kathleen Vivian of Ormond Beach and Overhead Door Co. of Daytona Beach. Family Renew Community President Remie Beaulieu presented the award and accepted the McGranes’ check during a May 23 meeting of the organization’s Board of Trustees at CareerSource Flagler Volusia in Daytona Beach. The multimedia campaign will kick off July 1.
