Economic thud gets mom unstuck

Bouncing from one friend’s or relative’s couch to another was not the life “Anna” wanted for herself, much less for the toddler and newborn experiencing homelessness with her.

You gotta have faith!

Our faith-based trustee congregations, including varied Christian denominations, Jewish and Unitarian Universalist traditions, support our work financially, with volunteer hours and in-kind contributions and in prayer on a regular basis. The public health crisis has pushed many to go beyond their routine generosity.

Staying on the path

A single mom is keeping the promise to stay clean and sober she made when expecting her now 18-month-old girl. And she’s well on her way to overcoming homelessness.

Getting through this together

This family of four overcame homelessness amid a pandemic with support from generous people like you. And they’re not the only ones.

We’re in the news!

The Daytona Beach News-Journal and the Hometown News both took notice this week of Family Renew Community or our Secret Attic Thrift Store.

Smiles and umbrellas needed

A simple gesture, a word of encouragement, or letting someone know that you care can make a world of difference to someone who is struggling. And the rainy season has started.

Food drop open on Thursday

Donations of nonperishable food for homeless families will be gratefully accepted in the parking lot of Tomoka United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 21.

Parents are working in essential jobs

Laticia, shown here with Family Renew Community Holly Hill Program Manager Anita Dudley before the pandemic forced social distancing measures, worked hard to become a bus driver to lift her family out of homelessness, and she’s not about to let anything stop her.

Requesting the honor of your absence

Stay-home socials are becoming a trend, but they’re not new to Family Renew, my friend! Our 11th annual non-event fundraiser features a $500 drawing and an online auction.
