One-fourth of homeless people in the United States are children in homeless families. These children are much more likely than children with stable housing to experience serious difficulties, including physical, cognitive, emotional and mental problems, according to a study the Urban Institute. Further, childhood homelessness translates into a greater risk of homelessness in adulthood.

Family Renew Community helps to break the cycle of homelessness in Volusia County by providing respite from the disruptions to which children are vulnerable, so they can focus on school, friendships and just being kids.

Words about children:

"I am so thankful to have been able to stay here and save money. My children have had the best experience here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." -- Laura

"I'm forever grateful for this program. This opportunity was a blessing for me and my son." -- Maria
