A mom of three with the fourth on the way came to us after living in her car. Unfortunately, although she had put some baby things away in a family members house they were thrown away when they became homeless. So she had nothing for her expectant birth. And, although she is working she had no savings to buy anything for the baby. Well, the Victoria Gardens Women’s Club in DeLand heard what was going on and stepped in with a $500 gift card from one member and collected baby items to help receive the newborn on delivery. It truly blessed the mom and the staff to know that people cared enough to step in and help this single mom and her newborn when they needed it the most.
Family Renew Community is a team approach to helping our families. Everyone from our volunteers to our dedicated staff have a hand in helping families in distress. As the summer progresses we can always use some help in our Thrift Store to cover gaps when people go on vacation. To find out more, you can call our main office and we will collect your name and availability and we will have someone from the store get back with more information, just call 386-239-0861.
Pray for our families as they have to find a safe, affordable place for their children to go while they go to work each day. Our program requires parents to be work ready and go to work daily. And, like many parents they have to rely on summer camps and day cares to help them take care of their children while at work. Please pray for the right people and programs and funds to make it so they can go to work.
Summer is upon us and our families could really use some sun block, especially for the children and personal hygiene items including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. And while the children are home or going off to camp, they can always use foods to make lunches, snacks and fruit juices.
